How do I find out what tests I need?

Raven offers consultation regarding your testing needs. Our water-quality experts also provide information on the specific tests you may need.


How often do I need to test my water?

It depends on the classification of the water source. Consult the table below for details.

Single family dwelling As needed to ensure water quality and safety
Type I (25 or more residents year round) At least once/year
Type II (25 or more persons 60 days or more per year) Normally quarterly
Type III (All other public supplies, duplex, small office, etc.) As required by MI DEQ

How do I get my water sample tested?

Call the Raven Analytical Lab nearest you.

We will come to your location, complete a site evaluation, take samples, and have your results within 48 hours.


Can I sample my water myself?

In many cases, yes, as long as you have an appropriate sampling container. Please check our sampling instructions document for detailed requirements and print and complete the water analysis request form for the Midland Lab or Roscommon Lab.


How will I get my results?

We can send your results via fax, e-mail, and/or hard copy in the mail.


How do I keep track of test results?

Raven Analytical will maintain duplicate records for you. We protect these records for five years and assist you in reporting the results if requested.


Can you report my results to agencies or institutions for me?

Yes, Raven will assist you in reporting your results to federal, state, and local agencies as well as lending institutions if requested.


How long does it take to obtain results?

Results are normally available within 48 hours.
